Type your cut contents here.

Some of you have probably already seen this, so sorry if this is starting to pop up a lot. I did this with Copic markers.

Have you tried flipping your lineart over and holding it up to the light, or to a mirror, before coloring? You should see your mistakes in proportions and angles if you do so.

The left side Zuko's chin is a bit lopsided - and the hollow that's supposed to be in the middle of his collarbones follows (next time lower the hollow or raise the collarbones a bit)- and you need more definition for the bridge of his nose by shadows, etc. It seems like his neck is too stiff, IMO...maybe draw it smoother from his jaw, or something?

Also, the hair. Highlights should only form one band with hair that is straight. Follow your light source. And...if you could lighten the scar tissue a bit, to a more...pinkish tone, it looks almost like bare muscle at this point.

But I like the way you color. So tedious, but the result is fantastic. The skin is very well done, and the top of the hair...I love it.

If you'd like a redline, just ask. :)

Thanks! No, I've never flipped my line art before coloring. Do you know any tips on coloring hair?

Coloring hair? Oh, since you're working with copics...maybe you should try outlining the highlights first in very light pencil, so you have an idea of where the light areas should be.

um, just to add, I'm not sure if you did this or not, but Zuko's scar is made of two different colors. The innermost part which would be darkest, and then the outer part, which is a lighter pinkish/reddish color.

looking at the picture, you put in shading, but whatever isn't shaded seems to be the same color -- just thought I'd point that out :D

It's two different colors, I think I put too much of the darkest red around the innermost part. I colored the scar the light pink, then the inner most part a dark red, then mixed shading with all three, which just blended everything. Oh, the downfall of Copics...
